Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx. Acrobat distiller 9.0 free download. Under the C: Windows syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked old file replaced. I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the ActiveX toolbox, More Controls and it still wasn’t there I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.

I've used the Calendar control successfully on a fairly tight security network. The reason I was able to is that the Calendar Control is standard with Office Professional (and also with stand-alone Access, but I think not with stand-alone Excel), and all our PCs have Office Pro licenses, so that control was already available.

There can be several reasons and needs to be checked which one causing the issue in your case. From the error message,'C:Windows System32 I got the error message access denied.' I can say that you don't have the permissions to copy the file on c drive. Please try to copy the file with administrator rights then you will not get this error message. Then try to test it whether it work or not.

It does not use the monthview control, only a standard userform with standard controls. It is designed to for 32 or 64 bit applications, but I have no feedback from any 64 bit users. It would have to be installed on each computer (as an add-in); but it is simple to access by right-clicking any cell. It can also add a month or year calendar to a worksheet with one click. That certainly sounds as if it has to be installed. A quick web search seems to confirm this. If all the PCs have Office installed, though, they probably all have the Calendar control. Would that serve your purpose, or are you using some functionality of MonthView that calendar doesn't have? In review my problem is this. I have a form with quite a few sets of fields. They are: dtpArrDate1 through to dtpArrDate10 dtpDepDate1 through to dtpDepDate10 dtpCheckInDate1 through to dtpCheckInDate5 dtpCheckOutDate1 through to dtpCheckOutDate5 dtpCarPickUp1 through to dtpCarPickUp5 dtpCarDropOff1 through to dtpCarDropOff5 The fields are all date picker controls. Currently when the form is loaded the fields display today's date which is not what I want. I want the fields to display as blank until the user actually selects a date. I have had a few goes at writing code to make this happen but never successfully. I also tried to manipulate the code you supplied so generously previously but the changes I have had to make to the app have made it redundant and my skills are not up to scratch programming wise.

Excel) that is “using” MonthView control we like it to work on any occasion regardless on the OS type (win) in use, the Office version, whether mscomct2.ocx was installed on the user PC, and if it was, regardless of whether it was installed in the correct folder (sometimes, from my experience, we can fine this ocx installed in more than one location). Moreover if it is a shared file we want it to run flawless on all users PCs (each of them may have different ocx “status”). If however mscomct2.ocx is not present we want to prevent from the user to see compilation errors, etc.

In this specific case, I need to load in the userform data from the selected row. I've tried two possible ways: 1) MonthView.Value = ActiveSheet.Range('C' & ActiveCell.Row).Value which leads to 'Runtime Error '35778': Error during call to Windows MonthView control.' This happens even if I add a Format call Format(ActiveSheet.Range('C' & ActiveCell.Row).Value, 'dd/mm/yyyy') 2) MonthView.MultiSelect = False MonthView.Day = Left(ActiveSheet.Range('C' & ActiveCell.Row).Value, 2) MonthView.Month = Mid(ActiveSheet.Range('C' & ActiveCell.Row).Value, 4, 2) MonthView.Year = Right(ActiveSheet.Range('C' & ActiveCell.Row).Value, 4) which leads to an error message on the second line saying I can't set the Day when MultiSelect is equal to true but the line right above it actually sets it to False. This issue looks to be happening in a random way, independently from the cell value.

My Excel 2010 app references SP6 for the month view. My experience is that Excel automatically updates references when older ones are specified. A possible option is my free 'Get Your Own Date' excel add-in for xl97 thru xl2010 only.

@Rod Gill Using Range.Text or Range.Value gives the same result @Oskar Shon As I said in my first post, cells are formatted as Date. In fact if use +1 formula it shows the following day and not #ARG! Or whatever else. I've also tried similar code (second way described in first post) but I get runtime error 35779 'Impossible to set property Day if Multiselect = True.' Even if the line right above it is actualy MonthView.MultiSelect = False, which leads me to think about a bug in this monthview control. I'll rewrite the code of this form and see if I can get around this issue.

Another possibility might be the standard Windows MonthCalendar and DateTimePicker controls. These are system controls, so they won't be as straightforward as using Excel or Office controls. I'm sure it's possible to access them via VBA, but I've never done so and am unlikely to be able to offer much advice should you go that path.
